EASTBOUND ITINERARY
Day 1 – Your Canadian Train Trip Begins – Arrive Vancouver
A west coast style all its own, Vancouver has the relaxing and cool ambiance that you were hoping for. Enjoy your evening sipping hot coffee in a nearby café or exploring the city by foot.
Day 2 – On the Whistler Mountaineer – Vancouver to Whistler
The brisk morning air paired with the smell of fresh brewed coffee awakens your senses as you board the Whistler Mountaineer. An outdoor observation car is only a few steps from your seat; spending time here as you wind along the shores of Howe Sound is the perfect beginning to your Canada train trip.
Day 3 – On the Rocky Mountaineer – Whistler to Quesnel
A lonesome wail sounds from the train’s whistle and the smell of eggs, bacon and hot coffee wafts through your car as the Rocky Mountaineer pulls out of the train station in Whistler. As you approach the Cariboo Plateau region, you can almost see the miners from the Cariboo gold rush crouched near the water, rhythmically working their pans. Your train pulls into Quesnel for your night’s stay.
Day 4 – On the Rocky Mountaineer – Quesnel to Jasper
Your Canadian train journey continues today as you make your way to the majestic Rocky Mountains and Jasper National Park. Be sure to have your camera ready for the large population of Moose that are known to live in this region. The Rocky Mountain trench engulfs you as you look ahead to see the Canadian Rockies standing tall before you.
Step off the Rocky Mountaineer and take a deep breath – the crisp mountain air is invigorating. You are completely surrounded by mountains and trees. In Jasper the splendor of the Canadian Rockies is never out of your thoughts.
Day 5 – The Icefields Parkway – Jasper to Banff
Welcome the morning by boarding a luxury motorcoach and relax in comfort as you head south by scenic tour along the Icefields Parkway. You’re traveling along one of the most scenic highways in the world, so bring a camera! You will be speechless with the stunning sights of the vast Athabasca Glacier and pristine Lake Louise. Arrive in Banff tonight, eager to explore the most bustling little town in the Canadian Rockies.
Day 6 – In the Canadian Rockies – Explore Banff
Today’s the day of your across Canada train adventure to get outside, explore, and see why Banff is such a popular destination. A gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain gives you a panoramic view of Bow Valley - the mountains surround you as you gaze upon the pristine wilderness below with the river glistening in the distance. Return to Jasper this afternoon for a restful night; tomorrow you continue your journey across Canada.
Day 7 – 9 – Continue Eastward across Canada – onboard the Canadian
A cozy cabin with a large picture window and seats that become a comfortable nighttime bed awaits you on t he Canadian train . Leave the majestic mountain peaks of the Rockies behind and enter Canada’s sprawling prairies. The rich yellows and golds of the prairies are illuminated in the sunlight. Who knew such flat land could be so stunning?
Day 10 – Enter Canadian Lake Country – Arrive in Toronto
Stepping out of the train station, the sights, sounds and tastes of Canada’s largest city welcome you to downtown Toronto. The CN tower pierces the skyline, a saxophonist plays in the street and the spicy scent of Chinese catches your appetite. Get out and explore Canada’s most invigorating city.
Day 11 – Roaring Waters – Tour Niagara Falls
A waterproof poncho - the classy uniform of the Maid of the Mist – keeps you from getting soaked when you get so close to the falls that you can feel the spray on your face. A scenic drive takes you to the calmness of Niagara-on-the-Lake - the ideal place to unwind by strolling through the local shops.
Day 12 – With Fond Memories Made – Depart Toronto
Much too soon, you leave the clean air and colourful sights of Canada behind as your across Canada train vacation comes to an end.
