Day 1 – Begin your Canadian Train Trip - Welcome to West Coast Living
Vancouver is a delight – a cosmopolitan oasis of restaurants, shopping, and cultural activities nestled in the spectacular scenery of dramatic mountain ranges plunging into the Pacific Ocean. It’s the perfect place to grab a coffee and stop at a sidewalk café to watch the world go by.

A luxury SUV with private driver will await your arrival at the airport to chauffeur you to the decadent Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in style; this is the ideal way to begin your Canadian Rockies train vacation. Indulge in any of the world class restaurants just steps away, wander the streets of cafes and shops lively throughout the evening, or take a moment to relax in your Deluxe Waterfront room with its panoramic views of the water, forest, and mountains nearby with a glass of wine in hand.

Day 2 – On the Rocky Mountaineer – Vancouver to Kamloops
Step aboard the world famous Rocky Mountaineer for an iconic train travel experience that exudes old world elegance. Indulge in the train’s fine dining offerings and excellent service as you roll out of Vancouver and into the lush farmland of the Fraser Valley.

The panoramic views and comfortable setting of your luxury GoldLeaf service offer the perfect introduction to the beauty of the region. Seated in your panoramic dome car, you can gaze in any direction for equally breathtaking views. For a change of pace step onto the outdoor viewing platform to feel the breeze and get even closer with nature. Early in the evening the Rocky Mountaineer arrives in Kamloops, your home for the night.

Day 3 – On the Rocky Mountaineer – Into the Canadian Rockies
This morning sees your return to your refined new home – the deluxe Rocky Mountaineer. Today’s scenery will be spectacular, it’s the day you enter the breathtaking Canadian Rockies. The train will take you through the Caribou and Monashee mountains, and climb higher and higher towards the Rockies with the scenery getting more and more striking at every breath. The onboard expert guides will lend added insight into the stunning surroundings as you learn about the history of the Canadian railroad and point out any curious wildlife along the way (bears and elk are only two of the many mountain residents).

Step off the train in Jasper and take a deep breath – the crisp mountain air is fresh and invigorating. The lakeside setting is your introduction to the Canadian Rockies, and the wildlife grazing along the side of the road is a welcoming committee unlike any other. A waiting private car will whisk you to the luxurious Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge for some well deserved relaxation. You’re on top of the Earth and far from the stresses at home.

Day 4 – Maligne Lake Tour with Cruise – Discover Jasper
Jasper’s natural beauty is right outside your window as you take a guided tour through one of the National Park’s most spectacular areas. Maligne Canyon will leave you in awe of Mother Nature’s power as almost 10,000 years of erosion have created a gorge so deep that it looks almost bottomless. You will learn how Medicine Lake is “mysteriously” disappearing before boarding a narrated cruise on Maligne Lake, bound for the serenity of Spirit Island.

Take a moment to look around, for the Earth’s history is told in the dark green of the trees, the craggy cliffs, and the rippling water of this magical place. In the Canadian Rockies you feel an undeniable connection to something incredible. Spend the evening reflecting on this serene beauty as you relax in the Lodge’s luxury.

Day 5 – Discover the Icefields Parkway – Jasper to Lake Louise
Welcome the morning by meeting a private sightseeing transfer. Relax in comfort as you travel south along the Icefields Parkway, one of the most scenic highways in the world. An on-board guide will offer you expert commentary making certain you don’t miss a thing. A stop at the Athabasca Glacier, where an optional snocoach ride will see you right up to the beauty and wonder of the glaciers is sure to be a highlight of your Canadian train trip.

Later arrive in Lake Louise which is a photographer’s delight – a clear, shimmering turquoise glacial lake framed with some of the most majestic mountains in the world. Lake Louise is like nowhere else, as you’re sure to discover as you unwind in the comfort and scenery offered by the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

Day 6 – The Southern Canadian Rockies – Lake Louise to Banff
Lake Louise’s misty mornings await as you rouse yourself from the deep slumber resulting from mountain air and high thread counts. The turquoise water is pure and fresh, and you may be tempted to jump in, but taking advantage of the canoes available for rent tends to be the warmer option! Relax in these pristine surroundings before continuing on to Banff.

Your Canadian train trip brings you to the most lively town in the Rockies. An evening tour will see you leaving behind the wild life of Banff’s lounges and restaurants for the wildlife living in the wilderness at its outskirts. Black bears, elk, bighorn sheep, and osprey are only a few of the inhabitants of this rugged spot so keep your eyes peeled and binoculars in hand as an on-board naturalist explains the role and purpose of the National Park. Relax after the excitement of the day in the decadent Fairmont Banff Springs Resort.

Day 7 - On the Rocky Mountaineer – Banff to Kamloops
The difficult task of getting out of five-star beds is made easier by memories of sumptuous dining and breathtaking views aboard the Canadian Rockies train. Your private transfer will return you to Banff’s train station where you will return to your comfy seat in anticipation of the day’s attractions. Relax with a complimentary glass of wine or café au lait as the train circles round the Canadian Rockies’ famous spiral tunnels, descending into British Columbia. The West Coast reveals her beauty sight by sight through the onboard narration and endless views. The Rocky Mountaineer will pull into Kamloops in the early evening for a good night’s rest.

Day 8 – On the Rocky Mountaineer – Kamloops to Vancouver
Today’s Canadian train journey is especially stunning as you travel through the mighty Thompson Canyon and the awe-inspiring Hell’s Gate, where 200 million gallons of water are thrust through a narrow gorge. Moving from the arid interior of British Columbia, through the lush farmland of the Fraser Valley, and into the coastal rainforest and city of Vancouver, marvel at the all the tremendous sights you’ve seen and wilderness you’ve passed through.

Vancouver marks the final destination of your journey by train through the Rockies, and although you may be reluctant to leave the relaxed and refined elegance of the Rocky Mountaineer, Vancouver is still full of things to do. A private driver greets you at the train station to return you to your luxury home, the Fairmont Waterfront.

Day 9 - With Fond Memories Made – Depart Vancouver
Much too soon, but full of great memories of scenery, sights, fine dining and shared laughter, your Canadian train trip comes to an end. A private transfer will see you saying goodbye to the unparalleled natural splendor of Canada as you are taken to the airport to catch your flight home. You’ll surely be back.
